Meet Carol Evans And Join Her Dream!
I am a fifty-nine year grandmother of five. Back when the rails were converted to trails, I had a dream of one day walking the trails from one end of PEI to the other.
Inspired by my Grade Eight teacher, who, as a cancer survivor, decided to embark on a marathon shortly after finishing treatment to raise money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Oncology Unit, I decided it was time to realize my dream before it became too late.
When the new Fit Plex opened in Kensington, I began to train, not totally convinced that I was capable of taking on the task. On September of 2009, I made my commitment and took my story to the Prince County Hospital Foundation where the excitement began to build and it has now turned into a major fundraiser.
The project is called A HIKE FOR HEALTH and our theme is "TAKE A HIKE....FOR THE HEALTH OF IT".
First and foremost we want to promote this as a health project and a fundraiser second. The funds raised will be used to help buy a new Echo Cardiogram Machine, the first for the Prince County Hospital.
My dream is no longer mine but the dream of every Islander, a dream of better health and better health care: I hope you will share in this dream with me.
