Residents are generally notified of planned Maritime Electric power outages by an automated telephone call. You can also find outage information and updates on the Maritime Electric website: https://www.maritimeelectric.com. The outages typically last for two hours.
Generators
The community has five generators available for residents with medical needs during power outages. If you would like to register for the use of a generator during the winter months, please call 902-836-5029 or a member of Council to register for one. You will require gas and an outdoor extension cord to operate the generator. We can deliver a generator to you if you are unable to pick one up.
Reception Centre
A municipal reception centre is now available at Malpeque Hall for emergency situations.
If the hall does not have a planned opening during a planned short power outage, and you require assistance please contact the office at the above number, or Anne Sheppard at 1-519-770-9262 or Anne Cousins at 902-439-7720 or a member of the council.
Please plan ahead and do not hesitate to reach out if you may need assistance during an outage.
